Many people like to change the look of their car. They don't want to be caught in something that the local soccer mom might be driving. So they turn to after market fiberglass type parts like carbon for their vehicles. These new parts give a unique look and feel to your car. And that's what you wanted.

You can find a wide variety of different carbon fiber parts that you can purchase to change that old look. Most typical are replacement carbon fiber hoods. But other parts such as: carbon fiber lip spoilers; carbon fiber rear spoilers; side skirts; carbon fiber trunk lids; eye brows; carbon fiber fenders; doors; roof/hard top; seats and cooling plates are among the most sought after parts.

There is an allure of using carbon fiber for replacement parts. Besides the practicality of it, many exotic sports cars, like certain Ferrari models, are using more and more of these products for body parts and interior trim items. They choose carbon fiber because it is very strong and very light. It can also be molded in a variety of shapes for different applications.

All carbon fiber parts start out as a sheet of carbon fiber material. It is almost like a sheet of cloth. It is usually 100% carbon fiber to start with. You now have to add some type of skeleton to give it a form and shape. Fiberglass is a typical material being used for skeletons.

There are a few quality questions you can. First, is it made out of one or many sheets of carbon fiber put together? Multiple sheets of fiber can give you broken lines and patterns. Is the carbon fiber clear coated or gel coated? Clear coating looks wet in appearance while gel coating is dull. Another question is the carbon fiber cloth integrated into the mold or wrapped around the skeleton? Parts with the cloth wrapped around the skeleton will tend to break and split easier. So for longer lasting parts looked for carbon fiber cloth integrated ones.
